Yes, once again it’s just around the corner: not Thanksgiving, Black Friday, or Cyber Monday. Instead we’re talking about #GivingTuesday.
#GivingTuesday now in its fourth year, looks to be bigger than ever in bringing people together in efforts to serve others and give back. For those new to #GivingTuesday, it’s a global day of giving, fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. It’s not an organization, but a movement. Anyone may participate in any way they choose, and it’s a great way to kick off the most charitable season of the year. By using social media, more people are encouraged to do what they can to give back to the communities and organizations close to their hearts.
This short video explains how effective this movement has been in such a short time:
Though any individual or group can participate how they choose, more and more communities are organizing themselves, coming together as larger groups to participate in the movement, in the United States and around the world.
One of our favorite parts of #GivingTuesday is seeing the creative ways people decide to give back. From children participating in a community food drive, to a group of students seeking to help their peers, to a business deciding to donate its sales proceeds for that day, each and every effort is meaningful and inspiring.
What are the causes you’d choose to give to? In just a few weeks you’ve got the chance to give back. We’d love to know what efforts you see, and will give, on #GivingTuesday.
