Text4Baby_Mom_BabyFlu season has begun which means it’s time for flu shots. For the second year in a row, text4baby, which helps moms keep their kids healthy by signing up for information via text message, is partnering with Rite Aid and Johnson & Johnson to provide free flu shots for moms.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends a yearly flu vaccine as the first and most important step in protecting against flu viruses, which are constantly changing (hence the need for an annual vaccine).

Certain groups are at high risk for flu, including:

  • Young children
  • Pregnant women
  • People with chronic health conditions like asthma, or heart or lung disease
  • People age 65 or older

It’s very important for healthcare workers and others who live with or care for people at high risk to be vaccinated so as to not spread the flu to those who are most vulnerable. This of course means moms of young children should get a flu shot, especially if any children are younger than 6 months old.

Text4BabyThanks to text4baby, moms can get a free flu shot at Rite Aid! Here’s how:

            • Moms can sign up by texting BABY or RABABY to 511411 (BEBE or RABEBE for Spanish)
            • Moms enrolled in text4 baby will receive a text question asking if they want a free flu shot
            • After replying ‘yes’ they will be sent a one-time, non-transferrable code to be used at their nearest Rite Aid store for a free flu shot
            • If they misplace the code, moms can get it again by texting RESEND

Any questions can be directed to a Rite Aid pharmacist.
